Pictures From Paradise
Sometimes in trying to get a picture
I can see in my mind . . . the picture
just escapes in the taking.
For a week I’ve been trying to shoot
the setting sun, red, redolent hanging
by an unseen wire in the upper right
corner over acres of green rice-field
evenness. But if I get too close the
lawn-like serenity steals the shot
and I am disappointed.
And if I stand back and shoot through
the tall dotted “i” palms and lower
dull-green trees, the shot looks like
a postcard from a tropical isle where
I know beyond any doubt I have
never been.

Not feeling well. Hopefully I will get up to Nakhonsawan to see
a doctor Wednesday. I feel very isolated
here. This usually doesn’t bother me,
but when I’m not feeling well, it does.
